ICON OF THE MONTH: DEBBIE HARRY
It’s no secret that we love a strong, creative, influential woman here at Court & Spark Boutique. After all, our team is full of them! So, at our last team meeting, we decided it was time to reflect that energy in our brand. And what better way to do it than by dedicating a monthly post to the women that we think deserve to be shouted about? Introducing….Our ICON OF THE MONTH series!
Ohh yes! Every month we’re going to bring you a little taste of the women who have influenced us, in both fashion and life! And to kick things off is none other than the legendary Debbie Harry.

Raised in New Jersey by her foster parents, Debbie Harry became an inspiration to women around the world when she, alongside Chris Stein, formed the group ‘Blondie’ in 1975. (Fun fact: The band’s name was inspired by the “Hey, Blondie” catcalls she used to get from truck drivers passing by.) As a woman in a male-dominated field, Harry was never afraid to be herself; a killer rock star, unapologetic feminist, and of course, fashion icon. She has helped to pave the way for women in the world of new wave, punk, and rock music, inspiring everyone from Cyndi Lauper to Madonna along the way.
"How can one be a woman and not be a feminist? That's my question."

GET THE LOOK:
It’s nearly impossible to talk about Debbie Harry without mentioning her incredible fashion sense. Blondie’s appeal wasn’t just about the music; Harry’s bold style was an integral part of the band’s overall popularity. Her early looks were simple but striking: graphic tees paired with mini skirts, high-waisted jeans or leggings, and, of course, no bra, freeing the nipple before it was ever an insta trend. Legend. Her style evolved with the decades, opting for more glam pieces in the 80s, often mixing sequins, patterns, and bright colours. All tied together with her bleached locks. You can’t have a band called Blondie without the blonde, right? Even as she approaches 80 years old, Debbie Harry’s style remains bold and true to her roots. Once an icon, always an icon!
So what do we think Debbie Harry would buy from us if she happened to wander into one of our stores…
ANIMAL PRINTS
Bold, fierce, and just a little bit wild! These prints are SO Debbie Harry. We can totally see her rocking the leopard print trend. Our LOULA dress and ELVIE top would fit right in with her wardrobe.

GLITZ & GLAM
If there’s one thing Harry never shied away from, it was a little bit of sparkle. A lover of gold pieces, we think she’d look killer in our SOPHIE and GABBIE dresses.

PUNK ROCK 101
Our punk rock queen, we KNOW she loved a graphic tee and mini skirt. Honestly, you can’t go wrong! Harry’s style can be seen replicated in today’s world by people like Hayley Williams, Miley Cyrus and Olivia Rodrigo. Recreate some of her looks yourself by pairing our KINNA skirt with tops like JANE, HELA, or if you want to give the graphic tee a go: our SALENTO t-shirt.

QUEEN OF COLOUR
You know Harry wasn’t afraid to experiment with wild colours and prints throughout her career, and honestly, dead right. She’s always looked amazing! Fancy giving it a go yourself? Pick up one of our many pieces in the EMI print, or try our ELLY top and pants. If you’re feeling really bold, why not give the PORTUGAL’S CALLING pieces a go?

What do you think? Would you wear any of these Debbie Harry inspired looks? A powerhouse who made sure that the world of fashion, music, and culture will never be the same! We can’t think of a better way to start our Icon of the Month series than with this absolute queen.
