ICON OF THE MONTH: CHAPPELL ROAN
As June winds down and Pride celebrations draw to a close around the world, we’re taking a moment to spotlight an artist who not only embraces queerness but uses her new found fame and platform to actively advocate for it. This month, our Icon of the Month is none other than legend in the making: Chappell Roan!
At just 27, Chappell Roan has taken the world by storm. With her songs Hot to Go and Pin Pony Club becoming TikTok anthems, she has exploded onto the scene with her theatrical flair, synth-pop anthems, and a message that resonates deeply with the LGBTQ+ community. In this new wave of pop girlies, she really stands out as an artist, and advocate, constantly standing up for what she believes in.
Earlier this year, she won the Grammy for Best New Artist and used her acceptance speech to call attention to an often-overlooked issue in the entertainment industry: access to healthcare for musicians. I think this moment really resonated with a lot of people and made us realise that this girl means business! We also love how incredibly unfiltered she is, not afraid to tell the paparazzi where to go! We love a bold, brave woman!

Often dubbed “this generation’s Lady Gaga,” Chappell Roan and her outfits are so exciting and definitely a breath of fresh air. Her fashion is theatrical, camp and very heavily drag-inspired. Whether she’s painted head-to-toe in neon green or dressed like a glamorous vampire Barbie, her looks are slaying and making a statement.
Even her self-proclaimed title, “your favourite artist’s favourite artist", is a nod to drag legend Sasha Colby, and it's no surprise. Chappell’s entire aesthetic is a love letter to queer culture and WE LOVE IT! Leet's take a look at some of our fave Chappell looks:
